Crashing Laptop
Monday, July 16th, 2007I was having a serious problem with my Toshiba A105 series laptop crashing frequently. It is more than an irritation: this machine is my job and without it I am not making money. I don’t mean to sound overly dramatic but this was a major showstopper!
I suspected overheating and got some free temperature monitorning software called SpeedFan. It can be found here: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php and the software confirmed that indeed the laptop was running hot. This software is supposed to measure fan speeds and such but that feature did not work on my machine.
I then searched the web some more and found that there are common overheating problems with these laptops. It is caused by clogged heatsinks that do not allow proper airflow. So the fan is running but no air can pass over the cooling fins.
This article had great info on the problem: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/01/04/toshiba-laptop-overheating/
And this artice had step by step detail on how to take the laptop apart: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-motherboard-1.htm
My first Blog post
Monday, July 16th, 2007Yippie Skippy!
After so many years with this website doing absolutely nothing I finally have a way to write some content without actually writing any code. I have my own biz writing code for others and I never really feel like writing it for myself. So this is a good way to test the Blog software Wordpress and to get some of my thoughts and Experiences out in the internet cloud.

Just to see how it comes out.
